The bladed crystals radiate from a common point in a starry rosette, glassy and richly coloured, sheltered inside the natural cavity of the nodule.

Pentagonite is a vanadium silicate and the less-common twin (dimorph) of cavansite, found in fine crystals essentially only in the Deccan Trap basalts around Pune, India. The Wagholi quarries are its main source, and this is a well-formed blue spray nested in its geode.

Like the zeolites it sits among, pentagonite formed as a late secondary mineral, crystallising inside the basalt cavities from vanadium-bearing fluids long after the lava had hardened. Its blue comes from that vanadium.

Pentagonite is soft and fragile (Mohs around 3 to 4), so never touch the crystals. Handle the matrix only, and keep it free of dust and knocks.

One of a kind. The specimen pictured is the exact piece you will receive.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0577/9714/8878/files/1db606a2018591713812e9e3cb0f965a_8beb11c1-4728-466c-9226-2be0e261678d.jpg?v=1784696728
